Sounded great. We contacted the seller, who reinforced everything the ad stated. I had a colleague, who has much experience in the equine world, phone him also, asking re floating, shoeing, jumping ability, all responses were positive. She felt comfortable that the pony would be suitable. We agreed to buy him for the asking price, with covers and bridle.
21st August, we went to Queenstown to pick him up from the trucking company.
Our hearts sunk when we saw him. Apart from his appalling physical condition,

The blaze in the picture (though difficult to make out) is actually a star and there was no bridle, and only 1 cover!. He was extremely difficult to get on the float, we started to smell a rat!
My daughter was desperate to ride her new “pony”, so tacked him up, it was a challenge to get the bit in. At a walk he was fine, but when asked to trot in a circle, he had no idea. After a couple of rides, decided to see how he was at jumping, he was shying from a 50cm jump, we were told he was able to jump over a meter!
We have had him officially measured at 151cm! and his teeth have been checked by a vet, who ages him well over 7, more like 20!
I went to see a lawyer; his advice was to go to disputes tribunal, which I am in the process of doing. I have also been in touch with Fair Go, they are looking at the story. I have also been to the Police, but they say it is a civil matter, not criminal?? Equine Trader have struck him off their list, they have had other complaints re him!
When I contacted the seller re my concerns, he fails to acknowledge that there is a problem (he was very difficult to get in touch with), and states that the other cover and bridle was sent with him, trucking company disagree! . I told him we were taking this as far as we had to.
Strangles Up-date
The strangles out-break appears to have been contained, however don't forget to get your third immunisation.
Springston Trophy 2008
Springston this year was a blast.
It seemed to come and go so fast.
Here’s a poem about our trip
I hope you enjoy it J
On Tuesday our trip begun
Unfortunately Charles put in 91
That put to a slow start to the trip
This part I’m sure he’d like to skip.
On Wednesday and Thursday Jacque oiled up the hinges
This gave her time to deal with any whingers.
Eyre lodge was a very communal scene
It did a fantastic job of connecting the team!
Although the showers left a lot to be desired
The food was great and the cooks were admired
The horses all had a great place to sleep
But were sometimes distracted by ponies and sheep
Dressage day made a great start to the event
It showed how Jacques time was very well spent.
Gold won, with Superheroes not far behind
So we went into the cross country in a good state of mind.
Cross country day produced many thrills and spills
As the course demanded very high skills
Lib and Emma flew round in a dash
Shame holly flew off and Anna went splash
The juniors went well, with Lisa going clear
The others rode well but had some issues to steer
Unfortunately Emily fell down
But Grace and Charles had no reason to frown.
The social night wasn’t great
So none of us stayed very late
Shane and Charles even told the band to be quiet
Because they were so loud it was like a riot.
Before showjumping we put the cross country behind us.
In order to continue without any fuss
Most of us went clear
As there wasn’t too much to fear.
At the end of the day
Hip-hip hooray
Gold came home with 6th place
And Superheroes won the wooden spoon
This ended the event with a nice afternoon.
We all had heaps fun
And everyone deserves a big well done.
Jacque was amazing
And we all went out blazing
Maggie made sure we were all organised
And the parents were great, thanks guys!
Good luck to all you guys next year.
This may have been my last one, which produces a tear.
